Founded in 1946, Best Western International is the largest group of independently owned and managed hotels in the world. It is represented in over 80 countries by over 4000 hotels. Every hotel in the group must match the demanding standards and strict criteria set out by Best Western International. The Ramada Jarvis Hotel in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire was a business hotel which had become run down with low occupancy rates. The new owners approached Design CLD with a plan to extensively refurbish and upgrade the hotel so that it could become a member of the Best Western Group Our approach to the projectDesign CLD has worked on many hospitality projects including the 5 star 350 room Qilu Hotel in Jinan, China. Our brief was to was to draw on this experience and extensively upgrade the 100 room hotel in Nottingham, providing hotel room design schemes for standard, family and executive suites, conference suite design, reception design, lounge bar design, common areas and hotel entrance design. The updated room design features designer pattern accent wallpapers, warm wall lighting and dark wood finishes with matching throws, cushions and curtains. The bathroom suites were refurbished with new taps, towel rails and colour scheme. Colours were varied from purple to champagne for the family and executive rooms. This scheme was extended into the conference suites and reception area breakfast room and toilet facilities. We also revamped the external entrance area creating a stylish brightly lit drop off zone. Future plans include the installation of a new lift and bar lounge area. The resultThe hotel is now trading successfully as The Best Western Nottingham Derby with significantly increased occupancy and room rates.
