Female customers have always made a significant contribution to sales at Original Shoe Company. In their Glasgow flagship store the decision was taken to capitalise on this business by dedicating the first floor to women’s fashion. This meant creating a style for the interior that would specifically appeal to women, whilst keeping the overall feel of the Original Shoe brand. To achieve this we softened the masculine feel of the space age styling by using contrasting greens and pink with lashings of spacious white. Circular column claddings, pendant lights and Perspex bubbles for accessory display complete the look. Design CLD worked closely with Scottish fashion magazine M8 to identify and define the “original female”. The resulting graphic images form the basis of the first floor design and are used to introduce the customer to the female floor in the form of a clearly targeted stairwell sign spanning two floors. This, and the dedicated escalator located at the front of the shop, encourage a high footfall to the first floor, resulting in a strong sales performance.
