When running evening courses for school age children it is essential to ensure the safety of the pupils. However, this has to be balanced against the business need to draw in passing trade. Swot Shop is an independent education centre providing supplementary courses for school age children. Design CLD have a good record in education centre design having undertaken projects for Her majesty's Stationery Office training centre and the University of London's technology centre. We were asked to assist with brand repositioning for Swot Shop involving an overhaul of the reception areas, reception desk design and waiting room. The existing retail offer was redefined to focus more accurately on student needs. The security was also improved by forming a holding reception lobby. Our design scheme featured a confident colour motif closely allied to the new corporate identity. This and the trendy new education lounge allow the Swot Shop staff to more effectively sell their courses within an environment that inspires confidence, security and loyalty. Our work resulted in further commissions from Swot Shop dealing with classroom design and support office design.
